Zou Fangming,professor and doctorial supervisor, was born in September, 1957. In January,1982, he graduated as a major of applied geophysics from Department of Geology,School of Mining, CUMT, and ever since has been working at CUMT. In December,2012, he was appointed General Secretary of CPC of CUMT. In 1998, he beganenjoying the special government allowance granted by the State Council.
Zou Fangming has long been devoted to the party affairs in colleges, the ideological publicity work, and the education and management of college students. He also undertakes the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching work as well as scientific research. His academic focus mainly lies in Marxist ideology theory, moral education theory and practice in colleges and universities, comparative study on Chinese and western traditional moral education, contemporary methodology in moral education, higher education management, and the education and management of college students, etc.
Zou Fangming has headed and undertaken many research projects of national or provincial educational science, and social science projects supported by the Social Science Fund of Ministry of Education or Jiangsu Province. He has also compiled and published 20 or so textbooks and monographs. Meanwhile, he has also published over 50 academic papers. In 1997, Zou Fangming, as the team leader and key member, was awarded the First Prize of the Provincial-Level Teaching Award and the Second Prize of the State-Level Teaching Award respectively for the teaching achievement“To Establish All-sided Concept of Education, Holding on to the “Two Classes”, and Strengthening the Reform and Construction of Moral Courses”. In 1988, he was awarded the Third Prize for the Excellent Research Achievements on Higher Education for his monograph The Situation of College Students’ Ideological Education as well as Countermeasures. In September 1989, his book College Student Development: a Brief Introduction was recommended as the excellent national-level book to be exhibited in the National Book Fair in Beijing since the Founding of the PRC. He was also awarded theministerial prize for the Young and Middle-aged scholars in the Second Session of Excellent College Textbooks by the State Education Commission in 1992.
