The Ninth International Symposium on Green Mining was Held in University of Wollongong, Organized by CUMT

On November 29th - 30th, the Ninth International Symposium on Green Mining was held in University of Wollongong, organized by the China University of Mining and Technology.

This Symposium was sponsored by the University of Wollongong, Australia; the State Key Laboratory of Coal Resources and Safety Mining, CUMT; New South Wales government; School of Mines, CUMT; Henan Polytechnic University, Liaoning Technical University, China Australia Mining Development Alliance and other units. More than 150 experts and scholars from universities, research institutes, companies and enterprises of China, Australia, Czech Republic and other countries attended the symposium.

ProfessorJudyRaper, vice president of University of Wollongong, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the symposium. Ge Shirong, President of the China University of Mining and Technology, welcomed the delegates from various countries by video. Academician Yuan Liang made a special report entitled "Precision Mining of Coal-Science Vision" and Prof. Xu Jialin gave a special report entitled "New Advances of Green Mining", which were widely recognized by the delegates.

In the eight units of academic reports and seminars, a total of 37 conference delegates made the academic reports, which involved the field theory and practice of green mining, filling mining and surface subsidence control, gas drainage and emission reduction, mine water protection and utilization, intelligent mining and so on. These academic reports fully demonstrated the academic frontier and the latest development of green mining theory and technology research. The participants had a heated discussion and extensive academic exchanges, which promoted the international exchange and cooperation of green mining research.

In order to scientifically solve the mining damage and environmental problems in exploitation of coal resources, at the beginning of the 21 century, Chinese Academy of Engineering Professor Qian Minggao has put forward the concept of green mining, whichreceived positive response from academic community and coal enterprises. In order to exchange the latest development of green mining research at home and abroad, from 2008, the State Key Laboratory of Coal Resources and Safety Mining, CUMT, organized “Green Mining International Symposium” every year.

After the conference, on December 1st, the delegates visited the Virtual Reality Center of Mine Rescue Station in New South Wales, Australia and Metropolitan Coal Mine of Peabody Energy Company.
