Research Achievements:

Professor Xie has long been engaged in the research and practice of Rock Mechanics & Engineering. He was the first in China to have established the Macroscopic Damage Mechanics Model of Fractured Rock, and studied its natural character and the mechanism and process of catastrophic accident, which created a new era for Macroscopic Damage Mechanics of Fractured Rock. Since 1985, he creatively studied the discontinuous deformation, strength and fracture damage of fractured rock by means of fractal method, formed a new research direction for fractal research on discontinuous behavior of fractured rock, which combined with Damage Mechanics, achieved great success in rock burst, surface subsidence, top coal augmentation control and other mining engineering, and achieved significant economic and social benefit.
