At present, 18 teachers work in the Institute of Coal Mine Engineering Geology, and among them, there are 6 professors and Ph.D. supervisors. The institute has assumed over 100 research programs, including those supported by the National Natural Science Foundation and published more than 10 academic works as well as over 200 research papers. Dozens of these papers have been included in SCI, EI and ISTP. Besides, it has won the Fifth Huang Jiqing Award for Geological Science and Technology, more than 30 provincial-level awards, including Award for Technological Progress granted by the Ministry of Education, National Award for Technological Achievements in Safety Production, and the Award for Technological Progress in Coal Industry, as well as 10 plus provincial and ministerial level awards for achievements in excellent prospecting. In addition, it has achieved more than 10 items of achievement award like state-level video courses, state-level excellent courses, Award for Teaching Achievements in Jiangsu Higher Education, Jiangsu excellent courses, to name a few. Additionally, it has published more than 40 research papers that focus on teaching reform. The institute’s research is oriented to coal mine engineering geology, evaluation and prevention of geological disasters, prevention of mine water disasters as well as water and sand inrush, environmental engineering geology, prospecting technologies of geotechnical engineering, design and implementation of underground chemical grouting.
