The Research Institute of Geo-information Science is supported by Jiangsu Province key disciplines, earth exploration and information technology PhD program, geo-information science PhD program, as well as cartography and geographic information system MA program. It focuses on the cultivation of undergraduates majoring in Human Geography & Urban and Rural Planning, Master degree candidates and doctoral candidates of relevant majors. For the time being, there are 10 teachers working in the institute. They respectively focus on the study on geology, math & earth science, remote control & geographic information system, regional planning &resource management as well as other fields. Among them, one is professor, 5 are associate professors and 9 have doctorates. Meantime, the institute also invites famous scholars as its adjunct professors. Cheng Qiuming, the renowned expert in mathematical geology, also the winner ofNational ScienceFund for Distinguished Young Scholars (NSFDYS), and the current President of International Math & Earth Science Association, and Professor THIN of Technische Universität Dortmund(Germany) are on the list of its adjunct professors. Besides, Professor I. ROCH, Deputy Dean of Leibniz Research Institute of Geological and Regional Development, has been invited to engage in and make suggestions on the academic research of our research institute.
In recent years, the institute has finished various research programs, including those in the National 973 Project, key national science and technology projects and those funded by Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). It has won 5 provincial-level prizes for technological progress, and publicly published 8 monographs and textbooks, as well as more than 100 treatises. Some of these treatises have been included in SCI, EI,etc.
